“GLocalEAst Framing Together Migration, Diaspora and Borders in East-Central Europe”
Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP)
at the University of Bologna, Italy, Second Semester, a.y. 2022/2023
The consortium of five partner universities (see list below) invites master students from these universities to apply for the Blended Intensive Programme ‘GlocalEAst Framing Together Migration, Diaspora and Borders in East-Central Europe” at the University of Bologna, Italy, which will take place in the second semester of the a.y. 2022/2023.

- Vytautas Magnus University (Kaunas, Lithuania).
- University of Zagreb (Croatia).
"Developing a new curriculum in Global Migration, Diaspora and Border Studies in East-Central Europe" (GLocalEAst) is an Erasmus+ project carried out by six full partners (universities) and ten associated partners.
Aims and objectives:
The GLocalEAst strategic partnership in Migration, Diaspora and Border Studies is designed to address the contemporary challenges in East-Central Europe by promoting research, practice and political links in addressing migration issues, following both transnational and trans-sectoral perspectives. The project embodies the simultaneous creation of an innovative curriculum in Migration, Diaspora and Border Studies and a platform of experts from academic, NGOs and local governmental institutions monitoring migration and integration processes in East-Central Europe.
Moving from a national to a transnational perspective, the the GLocalEAst consortium will meet the need for developing new interdisciplinary and innovative courses through the development of a new curriculum that would provide the students with practice-driven skills to be acquired through both classes and internships, facilitating the transition of students to the labour market. Simultaneously, the GLocalEAst consortium will engage the participating institutions in the development and testing of innovative digital methods and pedagogies, aiming at elaborating attractive teaching methods, strengthening the staff professional profiles, filling gaps in specific teaching areas, and promoting internationalisation and networking.

From September 5 to September 16, 2022, the Viadrina Center B/ORDERS IN MOTION hosted the two-week international GLOcalEast-Summer School "Global Migration, Diaspora and Border Studies in East-Central Europe". It offered 30 international students from six partner universities (5 students per university) an opportunity to explore migration and borders issues, adopting both transnational and cross-sectoral perspectives by combining insights from research, practice and policy with a special focus on (South) Eastern Europe.
