Project description

On behalf of the German Federal Foreign Office, this project prepared a mapping of existing advisory services known as "border scouts", i.e. all services provided by experts who support companies and private individuals in implementing cross-border activities, and assessed the effectiveness and transferability. The project assessed already practiced border scout services regarding variations, experiences and capacities and developed an analytical typology. The study focused on exploring the feasibility to establish central contact points that are familiar with the regulations, planning and approval requirements on both sides of the border. These contact points actively support companies in setting up and establishing businesses and assist individuals in cross-border employment or training, thus contributing to legal certainty for all parties involved. The study focuses on economic and labor market-related advisory services.

The study has been published on the website of the Federal Foreign Office [in German].

The study is also available in Open Access as Working Paper B/ORDERS IN MOTION No. 12 [in German].
